Capsule.fm App Reviews

Nice, needs some work

Pretty App. High quality artificial speech. The personalized feeds look like they’ll be even more customizable in future. It is unfortunate you need to leave the app open as the last thing before bed. The main deal breaker was that shortly before my alarm was set to go off a voice woke me up saying it was having difficulty connecting to a server. A few minutes later the alarm with updates came on as expected, but it was not a pleasant wake-up.

Overrated

After reading the reviews, I decided to pull the trigger and spend $2. Strengths: - design layout - ease of ops - pleasant voice - good news feed Weaknesses: - 570MB!!! Whatdawhat! Seriously? This was the deal breaker. I needed a good alarm, not a semi truck taking up valuable space. - leaving app open. Like another reviewer, didnt like that. - unable to use my own music Final verdict: Dont get it. Not worth valuable space, waste of data time, and limited options. Get it if you have huge storage and want a computerized voice. Refund please!!!

Battery Hog

I like its concept, its layout, and the content. Having to have it on the top is a problem for those of us that may want to use the phone after we have set the alarm. The biggest problem is that running it uses battery like crazy. Last night I went to be with 89% battery on a fairly new 5S and woke up to "20% battery". Big Problem! That causes me to not use the app and needs to be corrected.

I like it, but...

I dont love having to keep the app open all night. Also, if the screen locks it turns off...like other reviewers have said, I wish it functioned more like my regular alarm, in the aspect. The voices have been pretty glitchy lately. Not sure if Im the only one who has noticed that. But really, main issue is the app having to stay open and unlocked to that screen. Its very inconvenient!

Dont buy it

I didnt have high expectations, but this app is terrible. Doesnt go off at the time set, difficult to understand the voice, often speaks violent news stories (not what I want to wake up to). Waste of money.

It could be better

The only complaint I really have is the voice. It sounds so unnatural and its not the most soothing especially waking up to. Perhaps an American voice could sound smoother? Other than that, though, the interaction is great!

Bad

Dont use if you need an alarm.

Not reliable at all

Two mornings this week it has shut down during the night and didnt wake me for work. When I dont set the alarm on days off, it goes off and wakes me up. Go figure. The weather forecast is totally wrong, you cant count on it at all. When I plug my phone into an iPhone Dock at work, it starts playing. Im going back to my iPhone alarm.

Needs work

So today is Sunday and I have it set so no alarm notifications happen on weekends but yet I still got a rude awakening today. Also good luck getting your name to be pronounced correctly. Even spelled phonetically it’s still not right. Good idea need work on the execution. Having to leave it on if you’re not connected to a power source is a no go even at a full charge if you plan on using the phone the following morning you’re not going to have any juice left.

Creator responsiveness

I wrote a review noting a concern, and app creator responded in very polite and earnest fashion. Many thanks to Capsule.fm for taking us users seriously. As I continue to use the app, Im also really enjoying waking up in such a pleasant way. Million times better than an alarm.

Needs work!

Wake up function is not reliable!

Love this, but it goes off after just a few minutes

I love this app, but since the iOS 8 forced itself on my iPad mini Capsule.fm goes off after just ten minutes or so--it closes completely and stops playing. I hate that because I like to keep listening to it after I get up. Also, I would love a rewind button on it to listen to a portion of it again. There is a fast forward which comes in handy if a story I dont like comes on, but a rewind would be nice especially for the weather and new updates.

Please improve the clock

As an alarm clock it would help to bypass auto-lock without having to change it globally in iOS. Many other alarm apps can do this, so that it works as a nightstand clock.

Great for first version!

Awesome app for being so early in production. I enjoy waking up to this soothing, yet fun, voice. May I make some suggestions? -a calming, put to sleep, feature for people where its hard to sleep -connection to ITunes Radio -a setting to change how nice or rude she/he is for heavy and light sleepers Other than what I want to happen, I think this app is going in the right direction!

Please add a horoscope option

It would be nice to hear that in the morning as well :)

Great alarm!

I love waking up to this app but I wish there was an option for it to play on a loop or repeat.

this version should have been free

obviously still working out kinks. you have to leave your phone on all night? that’s ridiculous. plus I’ve had it for a week and it still hasn’t worked right in the morning. the voice is a grainy, computery sounding british siri. this was obviously built with a wysiwyg app that does the coding for you. no self-respecting iOS developer would release an app that doesn’t work with the phone’s native apps.

New version no better

The text to speech is horrible, its difficult to understand most of it. It can play my Spotify, but then again, I can do that just fine without capsule.fm - the app, for me, continues to be pointless.

Impressive AI-Radio

Capsule.fm has evolved into a full personal radio. I use it to discover new music.

makes radio fun again

I listen to Capsule.fm from I wake up til sunset. It gets better and better. added my spotify and soundcloud accounts. love it.
